I finally worked it out
Dance dreams

Well it has taken awhile. I started this blog and then found it really hard to write anything. The reason being is, I wasn’t dancing or if I was, it wasn’t much. But this blog is about to start off, getting back into dance with a goal to be ready in 12 months.
I realised tonight, that my whole life has been about dance and why should I stop now? Just because I am not as good as I used to be. Just because I am older. Who cares. I just want to do what I have always loved, to dance.
What I also realised is, the reason I was finding it so hard and dis-encouraging is because I had chosen the wrong genre-hip hop as my come back to dance. I love hip hop but I don’t really have many dance moves for it. It’s not my learned dance style.
And then I realised… I want to dance contemporary. It’s a mash between ballet (what I was trained in as a youngster) and soul. It carries a softness that delivers on what the soul is feeling.
And if it wasn’t enough, I then remembered when I was in my senior year at high school, I wanted to be a contemporary dancer when I left school. I have always wanted to be one and now is my chance.
I have the technique ability, even if a bit rusty. But I had it when I did aerials. I just need to regain some flexibility, which is easy to do as I also was at my most flexible when being an aerialist. So I can do this. Plus I can make countless dance moves and choreography.
Here’s to dance. I feel like now my real journey begins.
