Building stamina in dance

My grade 12 PE teacher told me that ballerinas have better staminas and can out run runners. I believe her. 

The importance of building stamina means you can dance as long as you want, for hours and hours. The longer you can dance, the longer you can build on the technique and revise your dance routine. 

What I noticed that put me apart from ordinary dancers and put me with the best dancers. Is when a dancer practices a dance routine they either mark it out or they dance it in full, as if they were performing, facials included. The difference? 

The better dancers would dance full out and then when they came to perform, their output was even harder and stronger. This is because they spent every minute of dance practice building their stamina to dance amazing in a 3-5 minute performance.

Whereas the other dancers who just marked it out, only went to the next level of dancing, not the best and were exhausted after their performance.
