Electronic Music: Time to dance

If you really want to feel the beat, turn up some electronic music. Start with YouTube to really just try different tunes. Turn the music up. Feel the beat.

Dance is about rhythm and the freedom to experiment. Yes, I used to dance ballet but why not try something different?

Feel the beat, dance and you may feel like you are dancing unco. Who cares? Why do we care how we dance when no one is watching?

So just turn it on, turn it up and just dance to the rhythm. Try to keep up to those remixes and hot beats and in no time your arm will go up as you start jumping to the music. Let it do its thing.

If anything, if you dance like this for 30 minutes a week you will see your stamina improve.

And then of course once you want to try the next level, you can learn to shuffle. And trust me it looks easy, especially when they slow it down to show you the moves. But once you speed it up, it’s actually quite difficult. And that’s ok, because you are up for the challenge.

There are some great tutorials on YouTube on how to shuffle dance. So you can learn for free. I actually have never seen a learn how to dance shuffle class in real life but I have never actually looked. So maybe somewhere, there is one.

For me, I just like all dance styles and want to learn everything at once. Don’t do this. Learn one style competently and then keep practicing and when ready try a different style. It also depends how often you are practicing, once a week? Three times a week? Every day?

The good thing about shuffle dancing is there is a lot of bouncing so if you want to lose weight (like I do) constantly bouncing is great for doing this. Shuffle dancing has a lot of foot work movements and showcases the feet but hands and your facials to go with it make it more fun.

I always feel and have always done this, that I don’t mark out when dancing, I pretend I am performing even when just at home dancing in the living room. Because that is the best I am going to dance anywhere because I am performing for myself so why not go all out and just give it my all?

Because when you perform nerves can get in the way, finding people you know in the audience can be distracting but when you are at home you can just go for it. Who cares what you look like doing a certain move? Who cares if you muck up or if following a routine forgetting a bit? No one. Because no one is watching you.

Also it is much easier to let your personality come through your dance when at home. It’s like a driving test when you are learning you are performing your best even if you do some things wrong. But when you go for the driving test you have to perform and the pressure is on, which means increased nerves which results in a not as perfect drive as you imagined.

And that is normal!!

So rock it at home so when you do go to perform you are still giving 90% of awesomeness.
